flood – Loud and Raw http://loudandraw.com Moving Forward Tue, 27 Aug 2013 13:07:11 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.1 First-time-flood http://loudandraw.com/archives/1663 http://loudandraw.com/archives/1663#respond Sun, 25 Aug 2013 13:03:14 +0000 http://loudandraw.com/?p=1663 Share

A week ago, me and my neighbors captured something unusual on our area – flooded street due to typhoon Maring. We are confident though that we will won’t be having flood problems earlier in time however, nature proved us wrong and there you go, a photo below shows that we are really really mistaken. Apparently, the flood was due to a blocked water flow system because of banana tree trunks which accumulated garbage overtime. Was not able to check it out but rumors from our local people indicates its validity I guess. Well anyway, after about three to four hours of flood, the water eventually dried up and all became well. How I wish that the same good thing happened to various places in our country which were greatly affected by the typhoon-causing flood.

Sewers are important too! http://loudandraw.com/archives/1441 http://loudandraw.com/archives/1441#respond Wed, 29 Aug 2012 16:48:56 +0000 http://loudandraw.com/?p=1441 Share

A sewer probably is one of the dirtiest places to be on earth. However, few would really appreciate what it do for us since most believe that it should be left not to be discussed for the reason that it is nasty as it is. But honestly speaking, sewers should be considered as one of the best technologies developed ever since.

Well, for the most part it does put our waste away from us, from our homes, from the places we go to, we work at, we dine at and basically it is everywhere. But where do our waste go to after that? The nearest bodies of water and everyone knows this. To think that this system is with us on a day to day basis it is rare that someone would simply talk about it. But really, I admire those people who care about it which means they also care to the welfare of everyone and the nature as well.

Come to think about it, wastes are everywhere but a big concentration of our waste products lie in the sewers. Unlucky system huh? People just drop waste and leave it as it is, including yours truly of course. But when I dwell on the thought even more so, I began to realize that we should also show some respect to it by utilizing our wastes and in the contrary, our world will be less polluted. We all know what the effect are if we don’t take care of it – FLOOD! I mean, floods on the streets when its raining just became a common issue because of the improper care to sewers and drainage. Even though it reeks, we should keep it away from the worst garbage at least and in return, it will not come back to us.

Oh, this thought just came into me due the recent typhoons that hit our country. Perhaps, I should run a campaign for drainage cleanup eh?

Flooding Problem http://loudandraw.com/archives/1070 http://loudandraw.com/archives/1070#respond Sun, 27 Jun 2010 11:30:29 +0000 http://loudandraw.com/?p=1070 Share

The location of the company I am working for is considered to be highly likely to be flooded. The problem is the drainages are clogged with so much trash, although its is clean and trash-free on the surface, what lies beneath is a different story. So workers in that location often get stranded before they can work or go home which depends on when the rain will come flushing down. I think that if the local government or those in charge in the restoration of drainages in that area can’t find a solution for that then it’s up to us who pass by to do some self tweaking. 😀 It’s the season for rain so it should be normal to experience sudden changes in the weather. Today fashion can turn your bad day in to a better one, just like what rain boots can do. Simple boots seem to be old-fashioned so try alternatives with a different level of rain boots so avoid being soaked in the dirty flood water. Think of it as a healthy and fashionable way to enjoy a disaster. 😀
