He has this and that and I don’t know what they call it for sure, but one thing I know and on a market point of view, I liked his headphones that I would like to get something like that in the future. Out of curiosity, I tried these headphones when he was playing his music and the sound is just great that my old commercial grade pieces has been literally trashed. Too bad, when buying studio headphones, prices can be quite a shock especially if like me, I just want to buy one and not the need that’s driving it. I searched studio headphones at musicians friend and found several that looks similar to the one my friend has. I want something I can use for years and not like the commercial ones, once the wiring is damaged, then so does the headphones. Now all that’s left is clicking the buy button but I need to do some thinking and review first so I can get the good one.
]]>Last year I bought device that can create or record my musical ideas complete with instruments for a band – only that, this is more on software-based device that can enhance the sound of a guitar tone. It took me just little time o figure out what to do and afterwards, the recording was just too good to be true and I managed to create some good tunes. However, although I was able to record my guitar tunes and layered with a drum and bass tracks, I felt that some tunes are overlapping. My volume looks good, and it sounds decent on my headphone but when rendered and played on a sterop, the bass eats the rhythm tracks and so on.
After some tweaking and a little bit of research the problem was solved. For the most part, the reason behind a unbalanced audio mix is the sample output being heard by the user. This means that in order to produce some decent, balanced sound levels, one has to have a good set of Monitor Speakers or much better if a Professional-grade studio head phone like AKG K271 MKII which can be found on AKG Musicians Friend for the specifications. Because sound levels differ from speakers or headphones, the key here is to get one balance sound on low-mid-high frequencies so make things easier and accurate. One everything g is in order, home recording will be a walk in the park – of course, you still have to know how to play an instrument at least.
]]>Yesterday, I went to Power Mac Center in Greenbelt and lucky to find a whole cabinet display of SkullCandy Headphones. After trying the JBL and Bose Headphones display, I bought a SkullCandy G.I. Winter Camo Headphone because of its sound quality and the price. I never thought that JBL and Bose will be overrun by skull candy in terms of price and sound quality. The JBL and Bose headphones are worth six thousand to seven thousand pesos (6,000 – 7,000 PHP) while a G.I Skullcandy is worth three thousand five hundred pesos (3,500 PHP).
The Specipications are as follows: * 40mm speaker
* Frequency range: 100 – 18,000 Hz
* Impedance: 50 ohms
* Max input power: 400mW
* Cable type: OFC
* Cable length: 1.2 M
* Plug type: 3.5mm gold plated
Accessories Included are: Interchangeable ear pads, Travel bag, 6.3mm gold plated adapter sticker and a portable Can Opener located at the zipper inside the headphone strap.
After I got home, I tried this headphone and found out that was more surprised than what I have expected. The price is good for a better sound quality. I listen to genres such as metal, rock, classical, acoustic, jazz, new wave, a little bit of RnB (stray songs) and It did not let me down. The quality of the sound is balanced in a way that the bass will automatically sync in with the treble then the middle will help deepen the output. Now I can enjoy my Ipod even more, a jump step from my old Altec Lansing earplugs to a bass defining Skullcandy Winter Camo. Overall I’ll rate it 9 out of 10.
